Hi! Daniel, thank you for your comment! Your are right, I shouldn't be telling myself I'm mediocre. That was a strong word. But I am trying to see things differently so I can let go of perfectionism. So I was thinking: it is humanly impossible, if it took me circa 3 months to write each chapter, to want to write two chapters in a week. So much is clear. But it's not humanly impossible to "fake" two chapters in a week. That's the way I'm trying to see it. Then I have three more weeks to fill them up into real chapters and correct a lot. That's what I'm telling myself anyway.

I'm under the impression that you have done a great job and you are still doing a great job! Make just a kind of summary of those 2 chapters for Pamplona and focus on the version for Buchheim.

If only you could control EVERYTHING you could have that perfect dissertation you have been dreaming about. I guess the best way to think about it is that you will try to write the best dissertation possible with all the restrictions you have right now. And, after all isn't that what we do in life everyday?.. If you look at it from this perspective, you are not being mediocre, you are being realistic. Your should also keep in mind that working this hard you may have lost perspective of other important things, for example: What comes after the dissertation? It is a big thing to be writing it but my guess is that it is a way for you to accomplish so much more. It is a tool that you will use to find a job, to teach and have a greater impact, so try not to think of it as the goal, but as something necessary for something else (what ever this may turn out to be).
I hope you sort things out and that you will be able to compromise between getting the job done and doing it well enough that you are not dissapointed in your self.
